August 4, 2003 Lots of new news and updates for Reunion Weekend...

Reunion Weekend Events
We now have individual web pages with information about all of the exciting Reunion Weekend Events! Click the links below:

* Homecoming Game and Pre-Game Tailgate Party

* Saturday Morning "Come As You Are" Reunion Breakfast

* The Reunion Invitational Golf Tournament

* The Sunday Afternoon Family Picnic and Wine Tasting

Registrations
Including everything received through the weekend, we have now received 94 Reunion Registrations and recent e-mails confirm that many more are on the way! An up-to-date list of those already registered can now be found on the Reunion Attendees Page.

If you don't see the name of someone you're in contact with, get in touch with them and tell them to get with it...this is not something they're going to want to miss!

Raffle Prizes
We're still looking for prizes for the Reunion Raffle.

We've been very fortunate to be able to put together such a wide ranging and exciting Reunion Weekend on a shoestring budget for our 25th, but we want the 30 Year to be even more spectacular (and more importantly for it to be just as affordable!). ALL proceeds from the Raffle will be placed into the Class Fund and will help to defray costs and improve the quality of our next Reunion so please...if you, your spouse, your business, or anyone you know has and item or service that would make a good raffle prize and you or they would like to make a donation, shoot an e-mail to: raffle@amador78.org and let us know.

Thanks!

That's it for this week. Until next time...

July 20, 2003 Ok gang...

* Time is running out - Less than two weeks remaining before Reunion Tickets jump up in price, so if you haven't sent yours in yet, do so TODAY!...

* Course corrections - Because the initial twelve tee slots filled up so rapdily (and Canyon Lakes was unable to give us more) the Reunion Invitational Golf Tournament has been moved to Sunol Valley Golf Club. Check the Tournament Page for all the details and if you and or your Guest wish to play, reserve YOUR space NOW!...

* Music, music, music - Thanks to the efforts of Rene, Rob abd Michelle Flores, the final mixes for the Cocktail/Dinner Hour, Dancing and the Reunion Commemorative CD's has been completed and is being pressed as you read this.

All of the music has been gleened from the best and most popular bands, albums and singles from during our high school years.

The yet-to-be-titled Commemorative Package, a 40-plus song compilation of tunes "of the day" will be a two-disc set; the first featuring the top rock and dance songs, the second filled with the top ballads, all from the years 1974 through 1978. Groups appearing on the disc include among others, The Eagles, Styx, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, The Doobie Brothers, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, Chicago, Warren Zevon, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Foreigner, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Santana, Peter Frampton, Loggins and Messina, Eddie Money, Thin Lizzy, Journey, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Ted Nugent, The Who, Queen, The Rolling Stones, George Thorogood, Bob Seeger, Blue Oyster Cult, The Bee Gees, Dire Straits, Molly Hatchet, .38 Special, Crosby Stills & Nash, Bread, Player, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, The Police, Eric Clapton, Don Henley, Steely Dan and others.

Reinstate the draft - As often happens when you least expect it, having Reunion Weekend also be Homecoming Weekend has turned into a double edged sword. While we'll all have a blast at the game on Friday night (followed by massive eating excesses at a local carbohyrdate establishment, turns out that AV no longer holds the Homecoming Dance the night of the game, but rather the following night. Therefore, we no longer have the plethora of class members' teenaged children (or their friends) from which to gather a staff to work the check-in table or sell raffle tickets during the first two hours of the Reunion. SO...if you happen to have teenaged children who DON'T go to Amador who would be interested in working at Mom and Dad's Reunion for a few hours (and making some always enjoyable teen cash in the process) PLEASE...shoot an e-mail to slavelabor@amador78.org ...

* The morning after - Well actually, the afternoon after. Beginning at noon on Sunday following the Reunion will be a Family Picnic / Wine Tasting. There's plenty of time left for getting this one together, but mark that last day on your calendar and plan to come and relax one last time with your friends before you head back to the real world. We'll get a web page with all the details up in a week or so...

Until next time...

June 19, 2003 Hidee-ho good neighbors...

Not a lot of new things to report, but a few important items to remember...

* Lost Souls - With the last dozen or so, we seem to have received all of the "Return to Sender" replies. PLEASE...take a minute and pop into the "Looking For Lost Souls" page in the Reunion Section of the web site and see if there is anyone on the list you can help track down. We now have 118 on the list, but that number should drop this week, thanks to the efforts of Chris Kearns and Linda Delvecchio Cooper...

* Registrations - Michelle Leveira Flores reports that the registrations continue to flow in. A reminder to send yours in TODAY! The Initial Registration Fee Cut-off Date is less than six weeks away (August 1, 2003). The cost for any Registrations received after then goes up from $55-Singles / $100-Couples to $75-Singles / $150-Couples. So don't put it off and get caught forgetting...SEND YOURS IN TODAY!...

* Memorials - We would really like to do something special at the Reunion (and on the website) to remember those classmates, teachers and administrators who have passed away. If you know of or have any information about those who are no longer with us, PLEASE write in to: memorials@amador78.org

* Golf - No word yet on greens/cart fees or club rental availability from Linkmaster Inglesby, but he's on vacation...again. But I'm sure we'll hear from him by next week...

* Reunion Music - Still looking for more suggestions about the music "from the day" you'd like to hear at the Reunion. We've received some good ones via e-mail, but please use the thread on the Interactive Message Board so we don't have as many repeat suggestions (Freebird and Frampton are on the list!)...

Non-Reunion binness...

Personal Web Pages - Mark Strickland is the latest to fill out his form and his Personal Web Page is now up...

Photo Gallery - John Malone dug through the archives and pulled out a few dozen photos from the old days...mostly from Junior Prom and Senior Ball. It'll take a few days to go through them all and get them "web site ready", but we'll get them up ASAP. Thanks, John!...

That's about it for this week. Keep your Registrations coming in, see whom you can help find among the missing, place your song suggestions on the Board, and fill out your Personal Web Page Forms so we can get your site up.

Until next time...

June 13, 2003 Batting first (and out of left field)...I received an e-mail from Paul Mitchell (Class of '72 I believe) and he said that as he lives right down the hill from the Bollinger B&G, if we need shuttle service to the hotel after 10PM he'd be happy to play chauffeur with his mini-van. Hoping that we're all old enough to police ourselves, I of course thanked him for his offer, but asked he and his wife to pop in for a cocktail should they be available that evening.

That was a really nice thing for Paul to offer and I thought I'd pass it along...

On-deck...a good Reunion Meeting last night. Things are progressing very nicely...

1. The Sunday Picnic will be a bring-your-own-grub affair at the Mitchell-Katz Winery (formerly Ruby Hills) in P-town, beginning at 12 noon. The cost will be $5.00 per adult (though of course all family members are welcome (and encouraged) to attend and wil include 2 (two) embossed wine glasses and three 1oz. "tastings" for those of you so inclined to indulge. If you're not into wines (or wine glasses) they'll make great gifts. A "Picnic Page" will be up on the site by Monday...

2. Memorials - We'd like to do something to remember those class members, teachers and administrators who have passed away, both at the Reunion and on the web site. If you have any information about any of our former classmates, etc. who are no longer with us, please send an e-mail with the information to: memorials@amador78.org

3. Music - Pat Inglesby reports that the sound equipment for Reunion Night has been secured. And following her graduation from Harvest Park (they grow up SO fast) Rene Flores will be out in cyberland searching for those long-forgotten tunes that used to blare from our cars in the Jack-in-the-Box parking lot for us to listen and dance to that night. So if you haven't yet done so, pop into the Interactive Message Board on the class site (and yes, all of the glitsches on that have been exterminated) and read through the thread on "What You Want To Hear" and add those songs that no one else has thought of yet...

4. Hotels - Word is there are only a few of the "initial block" of rooms left. So if you're planning on making it to the Reunion and will need a room for either Friday or Saturday night (or both!), get in and book them now. You won't find a price better than the Reunion rate of $69 per night anywhere! (Information is available on the Hotel Page in the Reunion section of the class site)...

In the hole...Because of circumstances beyond our control, the idea for a commemorative mug has been scrapped. We have however, come up with another "gift" that will be presented at check-in. It's something everyone will love and use (we're positive on both counts). If you want to know what it is...you'll just have to be there!

Hitting clean-up and playing center field...For the next six weeks or so, the most important item on the agenda will be finding lost classmates. Now more than two weeks after the Packets have been sent out (and the ones sent to "bad" addresses dutifully returned) the head count for Missing Souls stands at 105 (106 until 4:45 this morning when I opened my e-mail and found contact information for Brett Miller!). A complete list of the names of the missing are posted on the "Finding Lost Souls" page in the Reunion section of the web site. Please take a minute or two and take a good look at the list and, should you have information, hints or rumors about how to find anyone (or even an idea about where to look), please send the information to: missing@amador78.org

Other tid-bits...

There are a few new Personal Web Pages up. You'll find links to them on the Main web site page or click on the emboldened, highlighted class members names on the Class Directory. And if you haven't filled out the Personal Web Page and/or the Class Directory Forms, what are you waiting for???...

Registrations keep flowing into the Flores' house on a daily basis (thanks again to Rob & Michelle for allowing us to turn their home into a Postal Annex). Have you sent yours in yet? Don't put it off too long...August 1st will be here soner than you think and when it does, the cost goes up. Might as well do it today, eh?

And finally...From Grenoble: Yesterday's e-mail sent yet another automated response from the desk of Rene Yandell Speroni (who must be running the European Tech World for HP), this time explaining that she is out of the office for two days on travel. Hey Rene....need a valet???

That's about it for this morning gang. There will be new additions and more detailed info on the web site and in your e-mail boxes on Monday morning. Until then...hunt down who you can on "the list", get your Reunion registrations and Hotel reservations in and have a great weekend.

And Happy Father's Day to all you papas out there...

May 31, 2003 FIRST...Because the number of people on the Class Mailing List has grown so large (and continues to expand almost daily)...and because many of your e-mail programs will not receive e-mails with more than 50 recipients, from now on all Updates will be placed here, with little notes going out to let you know there's an Update here...

Reunion Packets...With the exception of those people whose names fall alphabetically between Ingrid Ranceuret and with Chris Thomsen, your Reunion Packets are in the mail (if you haven't received them already). Those who are membes of the "Lost File", yours will be going out in the next day or two...

Kudos...Immense thank you's go out to Rob Flores for saving our collective butts by getting the label files reformatted. Had it not been for Rob and his staff at work, 300 Reunion Packets would still be covering the Flores' dining room table. Muchas gracias, Senior...

Registrations...have been coming in fast and thanks to everyone who mailed theirs in early to help get some working capital in the coffers. But don't wait to send yours in. Remember, the sooner we know how many people will be coming, the more "stuff" we can plan...AND...on August 1, the price goes up!

Hotel Reservations...are getting gobbled up. It's great to see how many people from out-of-town will be there! We're not sure how many more rooms we'll be able to hold once this first "block' is gone...and at $69 a night you really can't afford to pass it up...so reserve your rooms TODAY!...

Music...A thread has been started on the Interactive Message Board with a listing of some of the songs which have already been requested for dancing at the Reunion. Click the link at the bottom of your screen and take a look at what songs are already being hunted down and add your favorites that aren't there yet...

Golf...Pat Inglesby is booking four foursomes for Saturday at Canyon Lakes (whose first tee, for those of you who don't already know, is about 20 yards from the front door of where the Reunion will be held). Time is yet to be determined but expect something early-mid morning. He's going to get cost information and rental club availability soon, so check back here. But if you want to play, e-mail Pat and reserve a space TODAY at: pjingles@dreyers.com ...

Are you ready for some football?...There seems to be some confusion as to just "where" AV will be playing on Friday night before the Reunion. We should have confirmation later this week, but a little birdie tells us that IF indeed they are playing California that weekend, the game will be at Amador, since they played at Cal last year and they reverse locations each season. In either case, Michelle Flores is looking into reserving a room at either Gay 90's or Straw Hat Pizza Parlors for after the game. Unless of course there happens to be a dance that night in the girl's gym...

The Morning After...Several suggestions have been put forth regarding a final "get together" the day after the Reunion. Among them are a catered tour of one of the Valley's newest wineries, a "Sunday brunch" and the always popular "picnic". E-mail us here with other ideas or comments on one of these...

Assorted Items
This just In...
New Personal Web Pages for Chuck Grandon and Lisa Hodges Christiansen are now up and we've received submissions from three others which will be up in a day or two. The pages for Lindy Jorgenson Brown and Karen McKinnon have recently been updated and both have some great new photos, so go take a peek! If you don't have yours up yet, take a few minutes to fill out the Personal Web Page Submission Form and we'll get it built for you!...

Directory and E-Mail...There are now more than 75 classmates on the Class E-Mail List and Directory. If you haven't added your e-mail addy (and other contact information you wish to include) to the list yet, go to the Class Directory Submission Form and add yours TODAY! And for those of you who don't want Class correspondence coming to your home or work e-mail boxes, you can open a free web mail address at either www.hotmail.com or www.yahoo.com ...

Last but not least...We still need help finding more than 60 of our former classmates who have dropped from the face of the Earth. PLEASE take a moment and go to the "Locating Lost Souls" page in the Reunion Section of this site and check the list of the missing and see if you can help. Thanks...
