What can we say about the 25 Year
Reunion Weekend and is it possible to find the words to aptly describe it? There were not
a few conversations over the weekend as to why people who knew each other for such a
relatively short period of their lives could remain so close and have such binding ties.
The answer could be debated for a lifetime, but I think it suffices to say
that we are all lucky to have and to know such a great group of people and that, in the
end, may be the best explanation as to why the Weekend was such a success. Put
simply....even at 43 years of age...WE ROCK!
On behalf of the Reunion Organizing Committee, let me offer thanks and appreciation
to everyone who has been so supportive through phone calls and e-mails and kind words
before and after the Weekend, and especially to those of you who stepped in and lent a
hand when it was needed:
To Chuck Grandon who got off the plane in San Jose and drove straight to the deli
to pick up the food on his way to the Homecoming Game Tailgater. Great save, Chaz!
To Rick Zurita who spent time and money to help get the Memory Booklet
designed and printed. Mac and the Maha are lucky women.
To Pat Inglesby who picked up the (golf) ball in the last week and ran with it, not
only pulling the tournament together but also coming up with those incredible
Commemorative Polos for the players. Always go to Pat, because he ALWAYS "knows
somebody".
To Debbie Albers Chirico who popped up at the VERY last minute and sold $435
worth of raffle tickets. If ya need a wild child to get the job done, Deb's your gal!
To Renee Flores, prodigy offspring, for countless hours finding and loading
the songs not only for the Commemorative CD, but for the Dinner and Dancing CD's as well.
Welcome to AVHS Social Nee.
To Shelby Clay, Maryann and Morgyne Martinez and especially Andrea Gerton
for volunteering at the check-in table. Good kids come from good parenting, and these
young ladies are prime examples.
To Linda Ellis who assisted us in getting in touch with some of our former
teachers and administrators and showed up at the Dinner-Dance with a box of AV Memorabilia
that really put the raffle over the top. And to that end, many thanks to everyone who
donated something unique for the raffle. It makes everything that much more special when
everyone gets involved.
And finally, to AV Head Coach Rick Sira for helping to make everyone feel so
welcome at the Homecoming Game. It was a great game coach, regardless of the final score.
Your boys never quit...the sign of great leadership at the top.
This really was SUCH a collaborative effort. But then the best experiences
often are.
With that said, below you will find links to photographs from the entire
Reunion Weekend as well as the written Memories and Critiques of this event, so that we
may share in each other's joy and learn to make the next time even more spectacular.
Please, enjoy the photos, send yours in if you have them and take a moment and participate
in the written portion.
There are new things in the works and details will be forthcoming via e-mail
in the coming days and weeks (if you haven't yet placed your e-mail addy into the class
mailing list, fill out the Contact Form online).
Until then, take care and we'll be talking atcha soon.
cheers!
